Check out the new Hcareers website

We would love to hear your thoughts

...and if you’re in the market for a new iPod Nano, you can head over to Hcareers site and fill out their survey for a chance to win.

I’m liking that again, you can search by management and non-management positions simultaneously, once in a while things are misposted and sometimes there are non-management jobs that pay enough to catch my interest. I think in the early days you could search by both and then they changed it. I used it a lot less then, as it was harder to navigate.

That’s a great point edithann...I didn’t notice that change as important, and there is certainly a job seeker market that falls between the two areas.

The site is definately wonky right now, and many of the links don’t work. No doubt it’s a work in progress but still a bit surprising considering their traffic volume (must be high!).

I emailed hcareers and suggested they change the big “search jobs” link button from the red colour to either green or blue--more inviting in my opinion. Red means “stop” to me, not in invitation to enter. Not sure if that’s going to win me an iPod nano though!

One glaring ommission (at least for me) is a lack of ability for users to subscribe to job categories/locations by RSS. I don’t know how many hotel folks subscribe to RSS feeds, but I certainly do. I “nicely” suggested this to hcareers in an email months ago (to their standard contact form) and got no response.

I hope the lack of any response to my email doesn’t sum up their customer response culture. Even an automated “thanks for your inquiry”, or “you’re crazy, hoteliers don’t use RSS” would have been better than ziltch!

Hi, Chris.

Our apologies for not getting back to you immediately. Our Customer Service team has been swamped responding to all the comments we’ve received! Now that you have my contact information, please do feel free to contact myself directly. Your input is welcome.

About the 404 errors:
The launch of the new website required modifications of the Hcareers technology infrastructure. IP addresses for the Resource Center were newly added and IP addresses for existing Profile Pages, Featured Employer Buttons and Custom Job Banks were changed. In a number of cases, various DNS on the Internet took time to refresh their cache of host names to reflect new IP addresses.

About the RSS feeds:
We’ve updated our technology to be able to provide our users with additional services.. and we have a few cool things planned this year. I will keep you posted.

Thanks for your comments on the Search Jobs button. I will forward them on.

Elena, thank you for your comments!

I do understand that reviewing and answering comments can be a daunting task, but it just goes to show that you never know who is watching your service quality, or where info about that service will be posted.

Here at Vacant Ready we try to keep our email relations strong, and it’s not always easy. We get it wrong sometimes too, but we all have to strive to be better.

The fact that you shared your response above with our hotelier community certainly restores my faith in Hcareers’ marketing efforts.

Thanks for stopping by.
