That’s a great question...unfortunately, there is no easy answer.

Hotels virtually everywhere in North America are struggling find enough qualified employees for most front line positions. The problem is not our demand for foreign workers, but rather the difficulty of getting work visa’s in a timely and cost effective mannar.

In Canada there is a push to try to make the process easier for employers to hire (temporary) foreign workers. Government has responded by improving our Temporary Foreign Worker Program by increasing the allowable time spent working in Canada from 12 to 24 months.

I’m no expert in this area, but I’ve found some links that might help you at least understand the situation better. I’ll ask around to see if I can find more specific information for you, and will email you if I find anything useful.

Hi there,

You can apply the Temporary Work Permit like Chris recommended, but it is pretty hard to find employers who are willing to assist you to apply for work permit.

There is another way, you can immigrate to Canada under skilled worker class. In this way, you can work in Canada. However, you will need to meet certain requirements such as experience, education etc.. You can come here to view more detailed information. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/skilled/index.html

Hope this will help.
Good luck! ^^
