Photo Tour of Vancouver’s Moda Hotel
Chris · August 09, 2007
Although we enjoy featuring luxury hotel openings such as the Loden Vancouver and the Shangri-La development here at Vacant Ready, there are many other interesting renovations happening in the city.
The historic Moda Hotel on 900 Seymour (adjacent to the Orpheum Theatre) has renovated all of the guestrooms within the last three months. Historical elements in the lobby have been restored, and construction of a restaurant and wine-bar are in full swing.
This heritage building, built in 1908, was most recently the (somewhat seedy) Dufferin Hotel before re-branding to the more upscale and refurbished Moda. Room rates for tonight range from $119 to $189, which is definitely comparable with most other budget properties in the downtown core.
Guestrooms now feature a more tailored, contemporary look with new beds, linens, and furnishings. Each room features flat screen televisions and high speed internet access.
Last week I wandered into the lobby for a look and was quite impressed with the efforts to restore the public areas. Actually I went into the lobby twice since I didn’t have my camera the first time. On the first visit I was immediately greeted by a very pleasant and helpful male employee, but the second visit was much less engaging with a female desk agent. Hopefully renovations are upcoming on the service side of things as well!
