Get A Room. Or Read a Blog
Chris · January 19, 2008
I feel all warm and fuzzy when I discover new bloggers writing about the hotel industry. All of us can easily find information online about Starwood’s share value or new hotel openings with Marriott, but sourcing interesting, relevant and fun insider info (or contacts) is pretty tough.
As more industry professionals reach out through the blogosphere and through online communities, we gain access to more expertise and better information. This is a very good thing.
Don Meador, Director of Sales and Marketing for the Landmark Hotel Group in Virginia Beach, VA recently started writing an insider blog called Get a Room! It’s a fun taste inside the Landmark ‘environment’ through the eyes of an experienced sales professional.
Don has a sense humour as well, and I noticed that he featured an article about BedJump.com, one of my highly cerebral side projects with HotelsByCity. Turns out I posted a few bed jumping pictures in Don’s home town of Virginia Beach!
A recent post on Get a Room! delves into the hotel lingo associated with Rooms, and it’s a good refresher for just about any hotelier. I also enjoyed a post about typical sales team interactions with potential guests.
This is good stuff, and I look forward to reading more hotel industry dispatches from Don Meador’s blog.
