Changes Afoot for Vancouver’s Hotel Georgia
Chris · July 25, 2007
While on a flight recently aboard Alaska Airlines I found an advertisement in the airline’s magazine showcasing new private residences at Vancouver’s Hotel Georgia.
This upscale, mixed use re-development is still in progress with a completion deadline set in 2009.
For a time the hotel was rumoured to be re-positioning as a member of Starwood’s “W” collection, but that did not materialize.
Built in 1927 and situated in the epicentre of Vancouver’s downtown core, the Hotel Georgia is long overdue for an injection of tender loving care. It appears that the Crowne Plaza flag will no longer be flying at the hotel in favour of partnering with a new hotel brand to re-position the property just in time for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. Will the Hotel Georgia be independently managed?
